I have made it a habit to read "Imitation of the Christ" at least a page, especially when in chaos/confusion. It never fails to have a balming effect on the mood BEARING WITH THE FAULTS OF OTHERS

UNTIL God ordains otherwise, a man ought to bear patiently whatever he cannot correct in himself and in others. Consider it better thus -- perhaps to try your patience and to test you, for without such patience and trial your merits are of little account. Nevertheless, under such difficulties you should pray that God will consent to help you bear them calmly.
If, after being admonished once or twice, a person does not amend, do not argue with him but commit the whole matter to God that His will and honor may be furthered in all His servants, for God knows well how to turn evil to good. Try to bear patiently with the defects and infirmities of others, whatever they may be, because you also have many a fault which others must endure.
If you cannot make yourself what you would wish to be, how can you bend others to your will? We want them to be perfect, yet we do not correct our own faults. We wish them to be severely corrected, yet we will not correct ourselves. Their great liberty displeases us, yet we would not be denied what we ask. We would have them bound by laws, yet we will allow ourselves to be restrained in nothing. Hence, it is clear how seldom we think of others as we do of ourselves.
If all were perfect, what should we have to suffer from others for God's sake? But God has so ordained, that we may learn to bear with one another's burdens, for there is no man without fault, no man without burden, no man sufficient to himself nor wise enough. Hence we must support one another, console one another, mutually help, counsel, and advise, for the measure of every man's virtue is best revealed in time of adversity -- adversity that does not weaken a man but rather shows what he is.

The Seventeenth Chapter

MONASTIC LIFE

IF YOU wish peace and concord with others, you must learn to break your will in many things. To live in monasteries or religious communities, to remain there without complaint, and to persevere faithfully till death is no small matter. Blessed indeed is he who there lives a good life and there ends his days in happiness.
If you would persevere in seeking perfection, you must consider yourself a pilgrim, an exile on earth. If you would become a religious, you must be content to seem a fool for the sake of Christ. Habit and tonsure change a man but little; it is the change of life, the complete mortification of passions that endow a true religious.
He who seeks anything but God alone and the salvation of his soul will find only trouble and grief, and he who does not try to become the least, the servant of all, cannot remain at peace for long.
You have come to serve, not to rule. You must understand, too, that you have been called to suffer and to work, not to idle and gossip away your time. Here men are tried as gold in a furnace. Here no man can remain unless he desires with all his heart to humble himself before God.

Affirmations for a New Me

In the infinity of life where I am,
all is perfect, whole, and complete. My life is ever new.
Each moment of my life is new and fresh and vital.
I use my affirmative thinking to create exactly what I want.
This is a new day. I am a new me.
I think differently. I speak differently. I act differently.
Others treat me differently.
My new world is a reflection of my new thinking.
It is a joy and a delight to plant new seeds,
for I know these seeds will become my new experiences.
All is well in my world.

Balance - Louise Hay

In this world ruled by technology we find ourselves out of balance at times. We lose track of our daily routines when things change, people are constantly coming and going, and our duties become priority over our well-being. I would like to take this time today to rebalance ourselves together.

If you were struggling with balancing your life in the past, we can come together now, crafting a life that will nurture, nourish, and support you. Somewhere in all the stress, noise, and to-do lists, there is still space for you. There is always time to nourish your body with good food, exercise and play, and still make it through your work day and fulfill your many obligations.

My philosophies of life are very simple. What we give out, we get back, and every thought we think is creating our future. We create every so-called illness in our body and we have the power to change our thoughts and begin to dissolve it. Above all, love yourself. It makes you feel good. When we really love ourselves everything in our life works.

Life Balance

Through balance, we strengthen our immune system, keep our bodies happy and healthy, and find time to love ourselves while satisfying the needs of the life that surrounds us without neglecting our own needs. It helps to have a routine, but when that’s just not possible we can just set reminders to pause when we are free to do a 10 to 15 minute exercise, meditation, or do mirror work to remind ourselves that we love ourselves or just recite our favorite affirmations. Just take the time to do something that makes you happy, both inside and out.

Learn for yourself when the best time work and play fit into your life and consider your loved ones being a part of that. Prioritize yourself. Without your health and well-being, you would not be able to accomplish the things you seek to accomplish throughout the day. Open yourself to love and inspiration. Write things down when they come to mind so that you don’t forget them. Take the time to become organized. It will open your work space and help thoughts to flow freely. Train the mind to believe that there is always time available to you. To say “There is never enough time in the day” is to make it so. Instead, affirm:
There is ample time and opportunity for creative expression in whatever area I choose. Each moment of the day is special to me as I follow my higher instincts and listen to my heart. I am at peace with my world and affairs.

I am capable and organized. My efficiency is more than ample to get any job done.

Everything you need comes to you in perfect time, space and sequence.
Our purpose in life is to be happy. This can best be achieved by nurturing and nourishing the entire body. Body, mind, and spirit work together as a whole. With good nutrition, positive thoughts, meditation and prayer we find ourselves closer to Life.

And so it shall be.

Take the time to enjoy these little suggestions for finding balance in your life. Remembering you more often will give you a refreshed sense of well-being and time will flow more freely. Things will seem less chaotic as the focus of your daily life returns to you rather than your surroundings.

Life loves you, and so do I!,

LOVE IS ALL THAT WILL FILL OUR EMPTINESS

“You need not concentrate on where to find love, for love will find you. You need not concentrate on giving love, for you cannot give what you do not yet know, and when you know it you need not give it, for it will extend from you naturally in miracles called love. Love is all that will fill your emptiness, and all that will never leave you empty again as it extends from you to your brothers and sisters. Love is all that will not leave you wanting.” (ACOL, C:11.17)

Jesus makes statements in A Course of Love that indicate that we would take him more seriously in regard to the primacy of love if he gave it some new and different name. He says that we have been hearing for so long that love is the Answer, and because of this long history, we don’t take the assertion seriously enough.
But love is the Answer. And when we pay attention to all that Jesus says, and we look to our heart for verification, we know without a tedious telling. Our heart knows that love will give us everything that we have ever wanted. And when we are on our deathbed, we will know that the only thing that matters in the whole wide world is love.
How do we experience love more deeply? We relax “into” our heart. We stop some of our egoic machinations, many of them, and we wait for a warmer feeling to arise. Our love does not need to be a struggle. We do not need to try to force ourselves to love people that we really don’t much care about. We will care about everyone when we listen to our heart. We will not necessarily associate closely, if certain others are a danger to us, but we will not find ourselves in a hate relationship either. Our lives will be filled with giving and receiving, receiving and giving, and in this new venture we will recognize what we did not before: that giving and receiving are two parts of the same dynamic. And the dynamic gets its impetus from love.
We will stay in a condition of constant and continual wanting as long as we refrain from loving full out. Love answers all our needs, and we recognize that while we may have wants that are not satisfied, we have no needs that are not satisfied.
Imagine that love is a something “out there” that you have never heard of. A feeling, an emotion, of warmth and compassion, a joyous feeling that makes all things One with us. We share in love, as we share in imagining that this new thing is a discovery of enormous proportions. Let this new thing speak to you of what your heart has long sought to give. Now we know how to receive, and the fact that love is not new to us is an advantage. Heretofore we just did not understand well enough to act on the promptings of our heart, the prompting to love.
Now we do.

I AM HERE ONLY TO BE TRULY HELPFUL

I AM HERE ONLY TO BE TRULY HELPFUL. I DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT TO SAY OR WHAT TO DO, BECAUSE HE WHO SENT ME WILL DIRECT ME.

“I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what
to do, because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing
He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.
(T28)”
Affirmation: “I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do.”

Reflections:
1 – What Am I to Do?
One of you who reads this blog frequently finds a favorite post by typing into a search engine the question, “What am I to do? Where am I to go?” Today’s passage just happens to be a precise answer to this question, a question that affects all of us to one degree or another. We are here to represent God; that is the spiritual answer. But not all who read this blog are ready for such spiritual talk. It is enough to know that those of us in the secular world, as well, can see that we do receive guidance about what to say or do next. This guidance can be very precise: Turn left at the next corner, even. Of course, if we are unbalanced, everything can seem to be a sign. But if we are reasonably well put together, our guidance will come in rational ways, though we will need to enlarge what we think of as “rational.”
2 – Lovely Prayer
The passage for today is a lovely prayer, set in the form of a blank verse poem. The “He” and “Him” referred to in the poem mean the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Universal Inspiration, the part of us that is in communication with the Father, with God. ACIM uses the triume God as a part of its theology: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. But we are all the Son or Daughter, in a departure from traditional Christianity. We all have the Christ Self within as part of the inner Being whom we are.
3 – Holy Spirit
Two of the most beautiful lines are Lines 3 and 4, in which we are assured that the Holy Spirit will guide us. We do not have to reach ahead to the future, wondering what to do. We will be told in the present. If there are plans that need to be made, we will be told of them at the point of need. There is no need to worry. This lack of a need to worry is powerful incentive to let the Holy Spirit makes decisions for us. If we turn over our judgment to Him Who knows all circumstances–past, present, and future–the cause of worry is negated. We have previously shown a lack of trust in the universe when we have worried. We have shown a lack of faith. But we do not have to stay in this state of unrest. We can move with a surety that is not of this world. We can move in God’s grace.
4 – Guidance
We will follow guidance to go wherever in this world we are led to go. This is truly being led by the Holy Spirit, and it may not take what is commonly known as blind faith. We will know inwardly and with assurance what pathway is best, and where that pathway is physically located. We will go with knowledge that we are there with the Holy Spirit.
5 – Our Brother’s Keeper
We are also our brother’s keeper. “I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal,” which is the last line, is an assurance that our relationship to our brother is where healing lies. This points out a frequent emphasis in this blog, that our holy relationship to our brother/sister is our means home to God. Here is the healing. And we heal him/her as surely as we heal ourselves. This is the means that A Course in Miracles is using to save us time. Each of us will save a thousand years as the world reckons. The world is old and worn down, very weary. It is a place of joylessness, but we can turn it into a place of joy. (These are paraphrases from ACIM.)
6 – Study the Poem
If we study this poem, we will have its blessing, for it is indeed dense with meaning. Let the Holy Spirit speak to us as we read.
Prayer:

Dear Father,
Thank you for helping me to make decisions through the Holy Spirit. Let me realize that I do not have to worry about what to say or do, because I will be guided. This is Your promise.
Help me to be helpful to others in my daily life. As I am healed, I will be better able to effect healing in others through Your grace.
Be with me this day. I ask You to give me good energy as I walk through the day. Give your blessing to my brothers and sisters as well as to myself. May I follow the guidance that I receive. May I not be stubborn in my own alienated will.

Affirmation of safety

I love and approve of myself. All is well in my world. I inhale the precious yet abundant breath of life and I allow my body, my mind and my emotions to relax. I am in harmony with all of Life – the sun, the moon, the winds, the rain, the earth, and the movement of the earth. The power that resettles the earth is my friend. I am at peace with the elements. Nature’s elements are my friends. I am flexible and flowing. I am always safe and secure. I know no harm can befall me. I sleep and wake and move in complete safety. Not only am I safe, my friends, family and loved ones are also safe. I trust in the power that created me to protect me at all times and under all circumstances. We create our own reality, and I create a reality for myself of oneness and security. Where I am there is always an island of safety. I am safe, it’s only change. I love and approve of myself. I trust myself. All is well in my world.  Louise Hay.

Reality facts

  • The observer always plays a creative role in manifesting his/her experience;
  • Consciousness literally alters the physical world (see parapsychologic research);
  • Reality is interconnected (called ‘Entanglement’ in Quantum Physics);
  • Our minds and beliefs can heal or hurt our bodies (which is why meditation is so effective);
  • Free and infinite energy exists at the quantum level;
  • We have at least three brains (i.e. organs containing neurons): 100 billion in the big brain, 100 million in the little brain (i.e. digestive system), and 40,000 in our hearts;
  • All of those brains collaborate not to generate, but ‘collapse’ the interconnected fabric of reality into a single point of awareness;
  • Consciousness potentially survives the death of the body (see research on Near Death Experiences and Out of Body Experiences); and
  • Consciousness (or something that isn’t matter), is the fundamental stuff of reality.

Wisdom

(Courtesy web)

The day man dies, his money will still be in the bank or locker. When man is alive, he thinks he does not have enough money to spend.  When most men pass away, there is still a lot of money in their bank accounts not spent.

A British tycoon passed away.  He left for his widow 1 billion Pounds in the bank.  The widow remarried one of her husband’s young employees.  The employee said,“All this while I thought I was working for my boss.    I now realize that my boss was all the time working for me!”
Moral of the Story:   It is more important to live longer than to have more wealth.
    • Strive to have a strong and healthy body.
    • In an expensive cell phone, 75% of the functions are useless.
    • In an expensive car, 75% of the speed is not needed.
    • In a big luxurious house, 75% of the space remains unoccupied or unutilized.
    • In a whole wardrobe of clothes, 75% of them are rarely worn.
    • Out of whole life’s earnings, 75% stays behind for other people to use.
    • In every human being, 75% of the talent is not utilized

So, how to make full use of our 25%?
    • Go for medical check-up even when you feel fit.
    • Drink more water even if you’re not thirsty.
    • Let go your ego, whenever you can.
    • Give in even if you are right.
    • Be humble even if you are very powerful.
    • Be contented even if you are not rich.
    Have a Great Life !

Knot Prayer

The Knots Prayer (Sourced from Web)

Dear God,

Please untie the knots in my mind,
my heart and my life.

Remove the have nots,
the can nots, and the do nots
that I have in my mind.

Erase the will nots,
may nots,
might nots that may find
a home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots,
would nots and
should nots that obstruct my life.

And most of all,
Dear God,
I ask that you remove from my mind,
my heart and my life all of the “am nots”
that I have allowed to hold me back,
especially the thought that
I am not good enough.

Guidance

Once there was a farmer.  He had a beautiful watch which was a gift of love from his Dad. The farmer used to value this watch greatly.  One day, he was busy stacking hay and he got tired at the end of the day.  His watch had fallen among the hay and he did not notice it.  Later in the evening, he realized about this and started searching frantically for the watch amidst the hay.  After hours of searching the bale of hay, he finally gave up his search.  At that time, his neighbor happened to pass him by and he came to know about the lost watch of the farmer.  The neighbor closed his eyes and started to listen attentively and he could hear the ticking of the watch and was able to easily  retrieve the watch from the hay.

Beloveds, the watch that we all have lost is nothing but our soul. We are searching for our souls frantically in the outside world and no amount of search is giving us any clue of where we have lost it.  Let us close our eyes and try to listen to our soul's ticking.  We will be guided.  Only closing our eyes to the outside world will enable us to listen to this ticking... Let us listen.........

Prayer for Personal Power

"In the infinity of the life where I am, all is perfect, whole, and complete. I believe in a Power far greater than I am that flows through me every moment of every day. I open myself to the wisdom within, knowing that there is only One Intelligence in this Universe. Out of this One Intelligence comes all the answers, all the solutions, all the healings, all the new creations. I trust this Power and Intelligence, knowing that whatever I need to know is revealed to me, and that whatever I need comes to me in the right time, space, and sequence. All is well in my world." Louise Hay.

Creator

Creator or the Ultimate Source, or the All That Is All, or the Universal Creative Impulse, or God, or whatever you may wish to name it, desires your prosperity and success. It does not desire (or demand) any impoverishment, suffering or limitation of any kind for you UNLESS that is what you desire or envision for yourself. Creator wants you to be blessed, wants you to succeed, wants you to have all the wealth and abundance you desire for yourself. Desire is de-sire… of the father. Your desires for wealth and abundance are divine. Honor them.

You are an inseparable part of Source. You are a divine creator as well as a sacred creature. Your intimate connection with the All That Is All is always there and cannot ever be severed for any reason EXCEPT that you will it to be so. (and even that is an illusion) You don’t need to do anything to return to Source. You are already there and always have been and always will be at one with The All That Is All. You are a part of, not apart from, Infinite Intelligence. Your consciousness is contained within universal consciousness. Each and every thought held in your consciousness is an integral part of the universal. It adds to the whole. It is creative.

You deserve success and wealth. You do not need to measure up to any standard, not even the ones you have set for yourself in order to merit wealth, success or happiness. Abundance is your birthright as a child of God. There is no prime cause at work that denies you the fulfillment of your fondest desires for success and happiness. To the contrary, the universe is set up to support your abundance. Harmonize yourself with the way the universe works and you will have all you envision and desire. It’s all about vibration and harmonics.

The Law of Attraction is always working. Whatever you have in your life right now, you have attracted into it. You do not attract what you wish for or even what you envision; you attract what you are. What you have and what you see around you is but a reflection of who you are being in this moment. Denial does not negate the Law of Attraction anymore than it negates Gravity, which is, after all, just another example of the Law of Attraction in action. Become more and you will have more.

The choice is always yours. At each and every moment, you have the power to choose to be, do and have more. Or less. Whatever you can imagine, you can have. The four principle forces that power your creativity are: thought, belief, desire and intent. You can choose what and how to think. You can choose what and how to believe. You can choose what to desire. You can choose your intentions. Such is your power. Choose carefully. Choose intentionally. Choose purposefully. Your choices of thought, belief, desire and intent determine who you are. Who you are determines what you get to have.

The true purpose of your life is simply to revere, relish and contribute. Life is meant to be a joyful event. When you honor all things, especially yourself, as being sacred; and when you wholeheartedly partake in and appreciate the pleasures of life; and when you consciously and intentionally choose to make a contribution to life… you are fulfilling the purpose of your life and you will experience joy and fulfillment. When you are searching for the purpose of your life, you are seeking the way that you can make a contribution or express your gratitude for the gift of life. Become a blessing and you will be blessed.

Love really is all you need. Compassion will open you up to being able to receive and accept all the love, joy and abundance that surrounds you constantly. Compassion for all creation, most especially for your sacred self, is the key that unlocks the door into infinity. Infinite love surrounds you. Be compassionate to life. Become passionate about life and you will experience all the abundance you are willing to allow yourself. In order to love your neighbor as yourself, you need to first love yourself. Love you. Honor you. Cherish you.

When you remember these simple things, life makes sense; when you forget them, you get confused by the apparent complexity. You wrote this script, now you are acting it out as the ultimate method actor. However, you may stumble occasionally, in the brilliance of your performance, when you forget the plot. Since you wrote this script, you can change it at any time you desire. Since you are playing the role you wrote, you can play it any way you think best. Drama, comedy, tragedy, romance, adventure, soap opera? You decide.

You are hearing this now because you asked to be reminded, from time to time, of what you know, but sometimes forget, as you immerse yourself in the experience of life on planet earth. You came here to play this game. That was your original choice. It remains your choice. I get to be the guy, this time, to remind you of the rules of your game. That is my contribution. Next time, it may be your turn to remind me. We have eternity to play. Eternity exists in this exact moment. Play full out. Now.
I love you. I honor you. I am grateful that you chose to be a part of my life. I am humbled if I can contribute in any way to the pleasure and success of your journey.

Treatments for Wealth and Prosperity

God Is! Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient. Infinite, Indivisible, Absolute. One Life, One Love, One Light. All that is, is God.

This One Life is What I Am! It is an immediate Presence, and Experience that flows in, as, through and around me. This Life is RICH!

At the center of my own consciousness, I recognize this Divine Presence inspiring, sustaining, and guiding me. The absolute clarity of my focus chooses from infinite opportunities and possibilities as I desire to express my financial abundance. The thoughts I think come from the Source Energy and can be realized in my reality. I choose that which is for my highest and best. I am a good steward of my money, demonstrating wise use of it. My life is filled with all that it needs, when I need it, for as long as I need it. I give freely of my gifts and talents, being of service to those who ask. I am opulently compensated for my gifts and talent. My good flows to me and through me with the current of wellbeing that comes from my core.

Right here and now, I allow and receive this abundance with grace and appreciation. My gratitude joyfully expresses within every cell.

With complete faith and trust in the Universal Law that always says “YES!” I release these words and know that they reflect Truth. Law always manifests Truth, and I open my heart and arms wide to receive in this now moment.

And so it is!

- Meri Clanton, RScP

There is One Infinite Creative Power, steadfast and sure…the source of all Life. And it is God.

The Spirit of God flows in, through, and as all things, all beings. It is the source of our very existence. Within this Divine Presence is the ever-expanding, ever-creating Love of Spirit.

God's abundance is mine right here and right now. Prosperity flows to and through and all around me, blessing my life with lavishness, joy and clarity. In embracing and releasing the Truth of this Perfection, I celebrate the harvest of healthy, happy relationships, spiritual and monetary affluence, joy and well-being. Recognizing God at the center of all existence my life is one of ease, wealth and Love.

For the bountiful expression of Blessings in my life, I give thanks. My life is rich and full with the promise of God's Splendor and I live in Gratitude. I release this Truth into Universal Law, knowing that as I speak these words, it is so.

And so it is!

- Christy Corna, RScP

I know that I live in a world of millions of leaves, millions of seeds, millions of blades of grass, millions of dollars, millions of bubbles sparkling through champagne, millions of happy thoughts, and I call this world of millions, of magnificent plenty, God.

I am part of this magnificent flow of millions of ideas, millions of manifesting thoughts.

I choose to manifest in my world millions of dollars to enrich my bank account and remind myself that I am a powerful expression of the divine. I expand my bank account playfully, gratefully. I see the infinite possibility in each penny I own, and see it multiplying and creating great good in the universe, like a god seed planted in love and joy. I enjoy my money. I attract money. I am comfortable experiencing great wealth. Wealth becomes me. I know this to be true for me, and I know this to Be true for all. I move in the flow of God as money now.

I release this treatment to the law that forms according to My word, with gratitude for love, beauty, and magnificent millions and all of the prosperous God-beings who cross my path.

And so it is!

- Janice Haynes, RScP

Logic

By Osho.

A story by Aesop which I have heard tells how a centipede was walking along a road. A rabbit saw it and was much perplexed. The rabbit may perhaps have been instructed in a school of logic. Its perplexity was this: which of its hundred feet did the centipede raise first? And which second? Which third? and so forth. How could it remember the order of its one hundred feet? Would it not stumble while walking? It must surely be confused.

The rabbit asked the centipede to stop and answer its question. It said, ”I am a student of logic and I am in great perplexity watching you. We walk on four feet so it is easy to remember the order of raising them while walking. But how do you remember the order of your one hundred feet?”

The centipede replied, ”I have been walking very easily up to now; I have never found it necessary to remember the order, and I have never thought that way up to now. But as you now ask me, I shall think about it and solve your problem.”

The rabbit sat there watching. The centipede tried to raise its feet but staggered and fell down. It was now in difficulty. With a sorrowful heart it said to the rabbit, ”Friend, your logic has put me in great difficulty. Please keep your logic to yourself, and do not ask your question to any other centipede which happens to pass you on the road. We live in great comfort and happiness. Our feet have never given us any difficulty – they never raised this question and never argued about it. We have never thought about which foot is lifted first and which second. We do not know. This much is certain: up to now I have been able to walk. Only now, because of you, do I find myself in difficulty!”

Man’s greatest dilemma is that he is in the predicament of that centipede. Man does not need a rabbit to ask the question; he raises the question himself and creates doubt and gets himself entangled. He asks himself the questions and provides his own answers. The questions are definitely wrong, so the answers become even more incorrect and misleading. Each answer gives rise to a new question. These questions and answers multiply, a great mess is created, and man becomes more and more perplexed until a moment comes when he is so perplexed that he does not know what is what. All of us are in this predicament.

Money- It is not complicated

Your New B.F.F. Corollary
(or Money: It’s Not Complicated)

By Pam Grout

The Premise
This experiment will prove that money is nothing but energy and that it is only your baggage around money that keeps you from having it, enjoying it, and realizing that it is not what you are here for. Your current financial situation is a reflection of your beliefs and expectations. Once you change your beliefs and expectations, your entire financial situation will change.

Let’s take an unflinching look at the top ten lies about money:

Big fat lie #1: You have to have it to be happy. People in developing countries, who are still in touch with the natural world (although the developed world is doing everything it can to erase this knowledge), laugh at the lengths to which we go to accumulate money and some of the ridiculous things it will buy. And on every single index of happiness, there is no relationship whatsoever to GDP.

Big fat lie #2: If you have it, you’re happier. I have just two words to say: Owen Wilson. He’s worth $60 million, and in 2007 he slit his wrists. Lucky for us, he wasn’t successful, but he’s proof positive that money cannot buy happiness. Another well-known actor, Jim Carrey, is famous for saying he wished everyone was rich (and famous) so they could see it’s not the answer.

Big fat lie #3: You have to work your ass off to get it. Riddle me this: Who works harder—the eight-hour-a-day factory worker or Donald Trump? Some of the poorest people I know slave away at minimum-wage jobs, putting in more and more hours trying to get ahead. Money, at least in my life, often shows up unannounced. And all those e-mails I’ve been getting from E-Squared readers? There were countless stories from people who suddenly received unexpected money.

Big fat lie #4: There’s only so much to go around. There’s a $500 billion advertising machine whose sole job is to convince you that you are lacking and that there’s only so much to go around. Once money and resources are defined as limited, every ounce of energy (what you say, what you think, what you do) revolves around overcoming this lack and protecting what you already have.

Big fat lie #5: More of it is better. A natural dance partner to “there’s only so much to go around,” this big fat lie distances us from enjoying what we already have. When we’re constantly focused on the next big thing, worrying that we need more, more, more to avoid being left out, we don’t experience joy with what’s already right in front of us. Excess money often creates entitlement and isolation that diminishes the wealth of human connection. I have often argued that amassing seven billion, the dollar amount Donald Trump claims to be worth, is not that different from hoarding old newspapers, leaky buckets, and all the other junk collecting in the homes of the dysfunctional folks we watch on the A&E show Hoarders.

Big fat lie #6: The economic system is set in stone; there’s nothing we can do to change it. Even though it often seems unfair (the rich keep getting richer, and those with the most money wield all the power), we continue to play the game, continue to buy the big fat lie that it’s “just the way it is.” That there’s nothing we can do about it. These assumptions, traditions, and habits not only trap us into resignation, but they also block a more accurate vision that prosperity is possible for all. As far back as the 1970s, the great futurist and humanist Buckminster Fuller recognized that human civilization had reached a turning point where a new paradigm was possible, a paradigm in which all of us could have enough food, water, housing, and land to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

Big fat lie #7: Money is bad, and people who have a lot of it are really bad.Remember that money-and-camels thing from the Bible? I don’t know whether that was the genesis of the rumor or not, but I do know there’s nothing inherently wrong with money. Money is a shadow of something much deeper. As Kate Northrup teaches in her book, Money: A Love Story, a more productive way to think about money is to see it as an exchange of value for value. Or, as my new friend Felicia Spahr says, “Money is everyone’s B.F.F. and they don’t even know it.”

Big fat lie #8: Jobs blow. Work is one of those things we have tied to the railroad track with unhappiness. When it comes to our jobs, every neural pathway in our bodies screams “let me out of here.” We believe it’s the weekends and the vacations we want and that work is only a means to an end. As long as we associate these two together, we miss out on massive amounts of fun and joy.

Big fat lie #9: The only way to get it is to have a job. Money and work go together like pancakes and syrup, like Russia and vodka, like celebrities and paparazzi. Although money and jobs have certainly been dating for quite some time, they’re far from married. Or certainly shouldn’t be for people who want to live an abundant life. I haven’t had a job in 20-some years.

Big fat lie #10: It’s a distant, magical demigod. As you’re starting to realize, the list of big fat money lies could fill the Grand Canyon. So in the interest of getting to the good stuff, the truth about the world and its largesse, I’m lumping a few more into this lie (I’m different from people who have money; To get it you have to cheat and lie; If you make it, there’s no time for play; and There’s no possibility of getting things without money) and calling it good. So that’s pretty much money in Worldview 1.0. Ready to look at Money 2.0?

Remember those beliefs and expectations that play out in our financial lives? They need to be changed. Abundance consciousness, which is what creates money in the first place, is equally available to everyone. Like air, it’s free… and anyone who wants can develop it. The simple fact of being human guarantees you have more abundance potential than you could possibly experience in a lifetime. And once you attain abundance consciousness, money will follow you around, chase you down, and spit in your face.

But first you have to get these six things, these paradigms from Worldview 2.0:

1. Money isn’t real. It’s a form of exchange. And all material things have no value except a random number we assign to them. That number can change at any time. A house that’s worth $500,000 today might sell for twice that tomorrow. Money-market funds have been known to grow by 25 percent in one week. None of it is real except the value we give it.

Money, or what we think of as money—bills and coins—is merely a tool that demonstrates a person’s wealth consciousness. And according to prosperity teacher David Cameron Gikandi, only 4 percent of money in banks (depending on the country) exists in physical form.

Money is always a shadow of something else. And how it plays out in your life revolves around two things: the value you place upon yourself and the ingredients you’ve placed in your money expectation beaker.

2. Money is an energy that forms around your thoughts. I once interviewed a woman who gave all her money away. Actually, I’ve interviewed several people who gave their fortunes away. Millionaires sloughing off riches is a hugely popular topic at People magazine. This particular person came from money. Her grandfather was some famous industrialist. Her parents owned houses all over the world. She didn’t feel right having such excess when others went hungry, so she gave away her sizable inheritance, the whole dang shooting match. And she began giving workshops on contributing to the greater good. Before she knew it, she’d amassed another million.

Moral of the story? You can take the money out of the girl’s wealth consciousness, but you can’t take the wealth consciousness out of the girl.

3. The world seen clearly without the lens of lack and limitation is wildly abundant. Bernard Lietaer, former senior officer of the Belgian Central Bank and chief architect of the euro currency, says in his book Of Human Wealth that the idea of scarcity is nothing but misguided cultural programming. In other words, a meme that has spread across the globe. Even though we consider scarcity and the greed it provokes to be a normal, legitimate reality, neither exists in nature. Not even in human nature.

Examine your body, that body that’s continually harping about lack and limitation. It has more than 50 trillion cells. Do you have any idea how many 50 trillion is?

Your eyes, those eyes that choose to focus so much attention on a tiny four-inch screen, have 100 million receptors, 100 million you could use to enjoy a rising moon, the Big Dipper, four-leaf clovers.

4. There is no shortage of anything. I remember picking grapes at a vineyard one fall. The owners of this vineyard, in a move rivaling Tom Sawyer’s fence-painting scheme, invite locals out to the fields for the opportunity to harvest their grapes. It’s so popular that there’s a waiting list every year. Yes, people elbow each other out of the way for the chance to perform a task that the owners, before hatching this genius strategy, once paid migrant workers to do.

I am so grateful that I participated because it showed me in living color just how bountiful the world really is. There were so many grapes that we couldn’t even get them all. Many had fallen to the ground before we arrived with our baskets. There was no way anybody could be there and not recognize the pressed-down and running-over reality.

Abundance is forever on display in the natural world. Just look at a tree. It has thousands of individual leaves, and as for the number of trees on this planet? I couldn’t hazard a guess. Or try counting the blades of grass in one square foot of your front yard. Mother Nature (aka the natural world before humans imposed fear on her) provides for every single need.

5. Everything you really need is already provided. You are fine right now whether you have money or not. Although we tend to pair money with such desirables as security, ease, relaxation, approval, and joy, we can have every one of these things without piles of money in our account. All of them are included in our inheritance. They’re given to us completely free of charge. Sadly, we barely recognize them behind the Halloween mask of the big fat lies from the previous section.

Here are a few of your other prized possessions, or they would be if you weren’t so busy thinking lack. Did you have to make the sun come up this morning? Say thank you! Do you have to order your heart to pump blood through your body, 36 million beats per year? Do you have to schedule your lungs to draw in fresh, clear oxygen?

If we focus on the planet’s unending largesse, rather than on the marketers’ drumbeat of limitation, on the bounteous gifts that spread out before us on every side rather than on TV commercials that suggest depression and sleeping problems, then we can rewrite the dominant paradigm.

6. It is only our illusory belief in limitation that keeps our riches away. The only real difference between me and, say, Donald Trump is that I choose not to carry my riches around. It’s comforting to know that anything I could ever want is available to me, but why flaunt it or drag around a bunch of material baggage?

No, my role model is Peace Pilgrim, who, when she was very young, made an important discovery: “Making money is easy.” Which is why she could give up her earthly possessions and walk around the world with nothing but the clothes on her back. As she said about her 28-year journey, “Life is full and life is good… There is a feeling of always being surrounded by all of the good things, like love and peace and joy. It seems like a protective surrounding.”

That’s all anyone really needs. To know with sure conviction that the world is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating.

Like everyone else on the planet, I received my engraved invitation to participate in the 2008 recession. Normally, I send regrets to those kinds of offers.

I learned ages ago that opportunities for pain and suffering are always going to be available and that if I was going to live with intention, it’s best to steer clear. I’d have never become the author of 17 books, a reporter for People magazine, and a world traveler if I’d accepted the onslaught of “negative invitations.”

“That’s not possible,” naysayers insisted on telling me. “It’s hard to write a book. Even harder to sell it. You’re an unknown from Kansas. You got B’s in your journalism classes, for God’s sake.”

“Talk to the hand,” I’d always say to those voices. “That may be your way of seeing things, but I choose a different reality, a higher path.”

But after three years of ever-increasing income, even being in a position to turn down a fourth project for National Geographic, I took the ego’s bait. By then, a constant stream of bad news dominated the headlines. My profession, journalism and book publishing, was among the hardest hit by the global downturn. Publishers were cutting back their lines, lowering their advances. Many of my colleagues in the newspaper business were suddenly without work.

Again, I normally don’t listen to such nonsense. I much prefer a spiritual reality that proclaims abundance no matter what the circumstances. But by 2009, after little by little letting the dire news seep in, I plucked the aforementioned recession invitation out of the trash. I decided to take just a peek.

The party was in full swing. My agent was repeating the “nothing’s selling” mantra over by the punch bowl. Regular clients were on the corner sofas, moaning about the economy and their need to buy less.

Before I knew what happened, I bunny hopped right into the middle of the celebration. I began singing the “ain’t it awful” blues along with the party’s deejay. I told anybody who’d listen about my hard times. Before long, I convinced everyone I know that my career as an independent author was over. I even fooled them into believing that, after all these years on my own, I was old, washed-up, and as yesterday as the History Channel.

I actually reveled in the sympathy.

Then one day, I got out my beat-up copy of Think and Grow Rich. As I read Napoleon Hill’s words about thoughts being “things,” I suddenly got it. Look how powerful my thoughts and words had been. Look what I’d done to myself. If I could create this disaster with nothing but my thoughts, then I could just as easily create the opposite.

When I think back about it now, I’m slightly embarrassed. How could I have fallen so bumpily off the wagon I’d used so successfully for so many years? I know good and well how this stuff works. I know that I create my own reality. I know that listening to doomsayers is the most futile exercise in the world.

I wasted no time using Hill’s famous advice. Within a week, I had two new assignments. The book contract for E-Squared came next. Rather than live frugally, the advice my friends were freely passing out, I decided to spend the summer overseas, volunteering and letting my newly recovered faith pay the bills.

That decision to affirm “I am prosperous, and of course I can afford to travel overseas to volunteer” was the beginning of a more fruitful life.

Needless to say, I’ve taken that beautifully engraved invitation and ripped it to shreds. And don’t bother sending any more. Because from now on, my RSVPs to any negativity will say one thing: “Have a good time. But don’t expect to find me there.”

The Method
Because money is so fraught with fear and antiquated old paradigms, I’m posing two sub-hypotheses (like I said, the world—and this chapter—is wildly abundant) in this experiment to prove the main hypothesis: If I change my beliefs about money, my financial situation will change.

Each of the two experiments takes three days.

Experiment #1:
Johnny Moneyseed (or The Circle Can’t Be Broken)
The sub-hypothesis: If I give away money, I will receive even more money.

It’s an inalterable principle. “What you give comes back to you multiplied and running over.”

During the three days of this experiment, you are going to seed money. You’re going to leave small bills (or large ones if that’s more to your liking) with notes about your newfound beliefs about the nature of abundance. You’re going to do this freely, playfully, and openly.

My daughter Taz and I did this recently in Chicago. I was writing a travel story about the mighty Peninsula. If it’s not ringing any bells, let me just say that this is where all the A-listers stayed when they came to Chicago to bid Oprah adieu. We could see the Magnificent Mile from our suite. We shopped, saw The Book of Mormon, and, of course, made a return engagement to Second City. In the audience, not on the stage.

We also performed the secret mission I’m asking you to perform. We took a stack of $5 bills and left them at bus stops, taped to park benches. We pinned them into clothes at the stores on Magnificent Mile. With each fiver, we left an anonymous note about the abundance of the universe and how this is just one small sign of how much whoever finds it is loved.

I know $5 isn’t much (one of these days, we plan to leave hundies), but for us it’s about “being” who we want to be—confident, freely giving—and knowing that as we give, so shall we receive.

We were doing what you’ll be doing in this experiment—building muscle, practicing “being” what you want to be—united with all that is, knowing with complete surety you are provided for in every way.

Record what comes back to you during the 72 hours.

As for me, E-Squared surged to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list within a few weeks of that experiment.

Experiment #2:
Pennies from Heaven
The sub-hypothesis: Money is easy to come by.

I learned this experiment from Greg Kuhn, my buddy and fellow author who writes about the same stuff I do. He has penned a whole series of books about applying quantum physics to the law of attraction. (Check out his website,
www.whyquantumphysicists.com, and his acclaimed Why Quantum Physicists… series.) I particularly love the game he invented called “Grow a Greater Greg,” only when I play it, I change the title to “Grow a Greater Pam.” Doesn’t have quite the same ring, but you get the point.

Greg gave me permission to share this experiment that, as he says, puts you into an abundance mind-set and forms coherence between the quantum field and your financial abundance.

It’s pretty simple. For the next three days, intend to find pennies:

·  On the ground
·  In your pockets
·  In your car
·  On the sidewalk
·  Everywhere

Conjure them by dwelling not on Where are they? but on How exciting it is to manifest a penny! After all, how challenging is it to find a penny? Pennies are the fruitcake of the currency world. Some people throw them away because they consider them worthless.

And, if you want to look at it that way, pennies are sort of worthless. So you’ll have no trouble manifesting them every day, because they are simply no big deal.

The Quantum Field Doesn’t Care If You Play Tricks on It

But here’s where the experiment kicks in. You’re actually going to trick the quantum field. Don’t worry—the quantum field won’t care; it makes no judgments, it just responds.

After finding a penny, privately celebrate it like you just won the lottery. Go way overboard. Way over the top. Get silly with it. Privately shout hosannas to the universe!

Doesn’t sound realistic to celebrate a “dumb” little old penny? After all, a penny certainly does not represent the abundance you truly desire, does it?

But here’s how you trick the quantum field with this game. What you celebrate is notthe amount the penny represents; you celebrate the principle it represents. You celebrate the principle that the universe is infinitely abundant and that manifesting is child’s play.

You are celebrating the universe “goosing” you with this penny—getting your attention and saying, “Hey, my wonderful, most special child! I am at your service, and I can and will create anything your heart desires! And I can create your heart’s desire just as easily as I created this penny! Isn’t that awesome?!”

The Quantum Field Wants to Give You More of What You Celebrate
And the trick is, the quantum field doesn’t know the difference between your celebrating the amount versus celebrating the reminder. The quantum field simply forms coherence with your energy of “this is awesome” and readily lines up to bring you more of it.

And you benefit because you can truly, realistically, and believably celebrate thereminder of abundance each penny represents in the super-grand, Fourth-of-July-fireworks style I’m suggesting.

Killings of Dreams

The first symptom
of the process of our killing our dreams is the lack of time. The busiest people I have known in my life always have time enough to do everything. Those who do nothing are always tired and pay no attention to the little amount of work they are required to do. They complain constantly that the day is too short. The truth is, they are afraid to fight the Good Fight.

The second symptom
of the death of our dreams lies in our certainties. Because we don’t want to see life as a grand adventure, we begin to think of ourselves as wise and fair and correct in asking so little of life. We look beyond the walls of our day-to-day existence, and we hear the sound of lances breaking, we smell the dust and the sweat, and we see the great defeats and the fire in the eyes of the warriors. But we never see the delight, the immense delight in the hearts of those who are engaged in the battle. For them, neither victory nor defeat is important; what’s important is only that they are fighting the Good Fight.

And, finally, the third symptom of the passing of our dreams is peace. Life becomes a Sunday afternoon; we ask for nothing grand, and we cease to demand anything more than we are willing to give. In that state, we think of ourselves as being mature; we put aside the fantasies of our youth, and we seek personal and professional achievement. We are surprised when people our age say that they still want this or that out of life. But really, deep in our hearts, we know that what has happened is that we have renounced the battle for our dreams – we have refused to fight the Good Fight.
When we renounce our dreams and find peace, we go through a short period of tranquility. But the dead dreams begin to rot within us and to infect our entire being.
We become cruel to those around us, and then we begin to direct this cruelty against ourselves. That’s when illnesses and psychoses arise. What we sought to avoid in combat – disappointment and defeat – come upon us because of our cowardice.
And one day, the dead, spoiled dreams make it difficult to breathe, and we actually seek death. It’s death that frees us from our certainties, from our work, and from that terrible peace of our Sunday afternoons
Words from Petrus to me during The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela

Disturb us, O Lord
when we are too well-pleased with ourselves
when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little, because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, O Lord
when with the abundance of things we possess,
we have lost our thirst for the water of life
when, having fallen in love with time,
we have ceased to dream of eternity
and in our efforts to build a new earth,
we have allowed our vision of Heaven to grow dim.
Stir us, O Lord
to dare more boldly, to venture into wider seas
where storms show Thy mastery,
where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.
In the name of Him who pushed back the horizons of our hopes
and invited the brave to follow.
Amen. ”
